Chanel is my favourite couture designer and I’m always in awe of the chic collections the house presents season after season. Such chicness is also reflected in their make-up collections and for me, everything is a good excuse to treat myself to one of their lipsticks… be it my birthday, Christmas or just because I did well in something.
Today I will be reviewing two lipsticks from the Rouge Coco range, namely no.16 Taffetas Rose and no.39 Paradis which I purchased while in Paris last October.
Needless to say, the packaging reflects the price tag and the black and gold combination lends the lipsticks a timeless elegance. The Chanel logo is engraved in white on the top of the cap and the shade name and number are on the label at the bottom. Each lipstick comes with its own box on which you get a list of the ingredients.
The lipsticks are designed to hydrate the lips throughout the time of wear and that they do. On me, I find that they last an average of 3 hours. The colour fades gradually and you do need re-applying. Their texture is very creamy and they glide on smoothly.
Taffetas Rose (far left) is a deep, reddish rose shade that is perfect for this time of year and it will complement most skin tones whilst Paradis (right) can be described as a pinkish coral that will suit light and medium skin tones better. Both lipsticks have a crème finish.
The Chanel Rouge Coco range consists of 30 shades and they retail for around €30 each. I totally recommend them to anyone who loves a luxury product every once in a while and I guarantee you will soon be making up your own excuses to buy them!
