Baroque is set to be the new black this season and your fashion credentials will go up instantly if you can pull off the look without looking like your grandma’s couch.
By definition, the term ‘baroque’ refers to the European artistic style of the 17th and 18th centuries, characterised by ornate details. Think the Palace of Versailles for architecture and Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall/Winter 2012-2013 collection for fashion.
As stated earlier, baroque pieces are very ornate and while the ‘all over prints’ trend maybe in right now, I suggest it is best if you wear just one elaborate piece and keep the rest of your outfit and accessories simple for a true fashion statement. Gold, pearls, lace and black are the key here but of course you can experiment to make the look suit your own personal style.
Channel your inner Marie Antoinette by wearing a full on baroque print dress or opt for a more ‘subtle’ take on the trend with statement headbands, earrings and accessories.
