WORLD PRESS FREEDOM DAY

In 1993, World Press Freedom Day was set up by the UN, in order to commemorate the vital role of the press in society, and to reflect on how this sector can be improved, both for its members and the people it serves. It celebrates the fundamental principles of journalism, and strives to reach gender equality and safety for for the press. It also remembers those who lost their lives or were harmed when on duty at the front line.
