There’s something very operative about the word ‘spectrum’. Perhaps, it shouldn’t just be used to determine the degree of autism, but to also celebrate the diversity of skills and personalities individuals with autism have. Einstein, Mozart and Tim Burton all had/have autism, and the world would be a very different place had it not been for these people’s contributions.

We would never compartmentalise Einstein as simply someone with autism. Correspondingly, we should never socially condition any person who’s on the spectrum. Let’s work towards developing a different perspective on autism, and come to realise that inclusion, respect and appreciation  and equality are the way forward.
