The Great Big Radio Show! The MADC is delighted to present this affectionate pastiche of the typical 1930s musical comedy, with a gloriously tuneful score by Philip Glassborow.
New York, 1933 – a top rated variety show is about to go on the air – LIVE! But the star ain’t here yet……The producer, the bandleader, the P.A. all have to keep the show on the air…hoodlums are after their missing gat, mistakenly picked up at a speakeasy by a young singer/violinist…the sponsor decides to stay and watch the show – what else can go wrong? Plenty……..
BUT! A waitress gets swept off to sing, a legendary movie star agrees to sing – the hoodlums get their gat back and everything ends happily. Well, it is a musical comedy, after all….!
