Award-winning alternative Maltese band Stalko will be launching their album A Long Wave Goodbye at the Palace Theatre in Paola on the 9th April at 9pm.

The seated event will be Stalko’s first time performing their new album to the public.

The songs are the result of a year-long creative collaboration of violinist Chris Cini, singer and pianist Tim Ellis, and singer, guitarist and pianist Michael Stivala, with lyrics also penned by Ellis.

Their fresh ideas were initially recorded on laptops and then expanded through the layering of different sounds. The pre-produced album was then taken to the studio for further production, recording and polishing, with the help of music producer David Vella.

“The sound of this album, while reminiscent of the first album’s orchestrated sounds, is much more spacious and ambient – with electronic elements thrown in,” says Stivala.

The band’s first album, Grandiloquence, was launched in 2012 and was titled Album of the Year by the Sunday Times of Malta’s music correspondent Michael Bugeja, who commented that Stalko has “never really been your usual kind of band.”

The band has also won Best New Act and was nominated for Best Album at the 2013 Malta Music Awards.

Tickets are priced at €12, but a copy of the album along with a ticket can be purchased at €17 here.
