Mattia Preti- Faith and Humanity
Special Curator`s tour of the Exhibition, followed by wine and canapes

Friday 17th May
Sacred or Profane: Prehistoric and Ancient Pendants from the Maltese Islands
Lecture by Professor Anthony Bonanno, organised by Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti to coincide with the exhibition
Vanity Profanity & Worship: Jewellery from the Maltese Islands
6:30pm at Casino Maltese, Valletta, Admission: Free

Malta Classic Car Collection Museum, Qawra
One off display of specially exhibited cars from the 1930`s. Special guided tours and wine tasting
Friday 17th May at 10:30am and 3.30pm and Saturday 18th May at 10:30pm
Admission: Adults 7 euros and children (3-4yrs) 4.50 euros

Paint it like Preti
Educational workshop featuring the 17th century painting manufacturing techniques of Mattia Preti, led by Heritage Malta`s Senior Conservator Ray Spiteri. Participants will work off a preliminary drawing, mix their own colours and paint their own masterpiece just like Preti did.
10:00am-2:00pm Grand Master`s Palace, Valletta
Admission: €25 and includes all materials (including paint brush etc) and a guided tour of the Mattia Preti exhibition.Tickets are available from all Heritage Malta sites and museums.

Saturday 18th May
St. John`s Co- Cathedral and Museum, Valletta
Come along and see some of the greatest Baroque masterpeices produced in Malta by Caravaggio and Mattia Preti, as well as the marble tombs, the Flemish tapestries and all the other Baroque gems that the Cathedral built by the Grand Masters and Knights of St. John has to offer
1:00pm – 5:30pm, Admission: Free

Catherine`s Turn
Double bass player Gjorgji Cincievski with dancers Sandra Mifsud and Douglas Comley, in collaboration with Heritage Malta have created a short performance inspired by Mattia Preti`s “The Martydom of St. Catherine”, inviting the audience to reflect on the apparent tension between the finished painting and the painting-that-never-was underneath it.

Sunday 19th May
Jewellery Making Workshop for Children
Organised by Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti to coincide with the exhibition Vanity Profanity & Worship: Jewellery from the Maltese Islands
11am, Casino Maltese, Valletta

Life at Sea
Open day at the Malta Maritime Museum, Birgu, on the occasion of European Maritime Day
The museum exhibits will be brought to life by re-enactors, historians and curators who will be at hand to provide fresh insight into Malta’s unique maritime past. 18th century recipes such as Maltese coffee, pies and heart warming chicken stew will also be prepared by the Museums Tavern.
