GISÈLE GRIMA & ERIKA GIALANZE AT TEATRU MANOEL
A piano duo recital will be performed by Maltese Pianists Gisèle Grima and Erika Gialanze on the 14th December at Teatru Manoel.
Gisèle Grima and Erika Gialanze have been collaborating since 2013, when a realisation of sharing music became an enthusiastic and bold commitment. As one of Malta’s sole existing piano collaborations of their generation, the duo has been active and in demand to perform at various venues around the island.
In 2014, the Grima-Gialanze duo performed at St. James Cavalier, and their immediate musical chemistry led to an invitation to appear as guest artists at the Three Palaces Festival later that same year. In 2015, they made an appearance in a four-hand recital at the International Spring Orchestra Festival, and later at the Victoria International Arts Festival in Gozo. The duo has also premiered works by Maltese composers Albert Pace and Alexander Vella Gregory. It is the genuine love of music-making that has brought these two musicians together, and they’re willing to keep the duo alive through recitals and educational projects.
As solo pianists, both have had an extensive amount of experience locally and abroad. Ms Gialanze holds an LRSM and majored in Performance at the University of Malta, later on graduating with a Master of Music in Piano Performance. Ms Grima pursued her studies in the UK, and is a graduate from the Ian Tomlin Academy of Music, Napier University, Edinburgh and the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester. She holds a MMus (perf.) from the RNCM and the FRSM. Both Grima and Gialanze are active as pianists, accompanists and music educators.
The recital commences at 8pm, and includes works by F. Schubert, M. de Falla, A. Vella Gregory, V. Vella, S. Barber, C. Camilleri and M. Ravel. There will be a pre-recital talk at 7.30pm. Tickets can be purchased here.
