Delicata Classic Wine Festival, Valletta
The Delicata Classic Wine Festival is back for its 13th year, at the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta from August 7 till 10.
Entrance is free but if you want to drink wine, you are required to purchase a wristband and a souvenir glass for just €12.00 (which is then yours to keep) and try as many of the wines on offer as you like, as often as you like. The last glasses will be sold at 11.00pm, last wine poured at 11.30pm and the festival closes at midnight.
A variety of Delicata wines will be available to taste for glass-holders, from the Gellewza Rose Frizzato to the Medina Vermentino Zibibbo and the Shiraz Cabernet. The event will also feature live entertainment by two bands every night; Thursday 7th August – Big Band Brothers and Radio Active ; Friday 8th August – Spiteri Lucas Band and Relikc; Saturday 9th August The Crowns and Fuse Box ; Sunday 10th August – George Curmi (Puse) and his band and Cash & band.
The food items on sale will consist of a variety of Maltese dishes such as suckling pig, Maltese fried rabbit, pasta dishes, pizza, paella and a selection of individual pastries. There will also be a selection of sushi platters, dim sum platters and Thai noodle dishes, together with a selection of Indian starters and dishes such as Chicken Tikka Masala, Beef Madras and Chicken Korma.
