RECOGNITION FOR CORINTHIA’S FUNDRAISING THAT OFFERED ILL CHILDREN HOLIDAYS

Long-time Corinthia Palace Hotel & Spa charity coordinator Marisa Xuereb was recently appointed an Ambassador for Malta for the Belgium-based charity Beyond the Moon. The fundraising efforts, which included a Christmas gift fair, Malta Classic events, and Mother’s Day fairs) allowed 12 Maltese families to enjoy the holiday of a lifetime with their severely ill children.

“My son Nikolai was very ill in 2012 and things were very stressful for us as a family. However, thanks to fundraising efforts by the Corinthia Palace Hotel and Spa and Round Table 1, as well as the work of BTM, we were able to enjoy a holiday together at the Landal GreenParks Rabbit Hill Family Resort in the Netherlands,” these are words of St Theresa College Boys’ Secondary School in St Venera headmaster Jonathan Attard, who himself got involved in fundraising for Beyond the Moon, championed by Mrs Xuereb. “It gave us the unique chance to relax as a family away from hospitals and medicine, and to focus on Nikolai’s recovery.”

Corinthia Palace Hotel & Spa first began its fundraising efforts for Beyond the Moon back in 2005, and has since raised over €95,000 for the charity. Most recently, the hotel raised €5,000 on 1 May, thanks to its popular Perfect Mother’s Day Gift Fair, and eight more families now look forward to the holiday experience in the months to come. The charity team is already planning further fundraising activities for Beyond the Moon.
