Known from TV shows like ‘Ingroppi’, ‘Idejn il-Vjolinista, ‘L-Avukat Gawdenz Bilocca’, ‘Haddiehor’, ‘Qalb in-nies’, ‘Sejjahtli’, ‘Dreams’, ‘Katrina’, ‘Manwela’, ‘Pupazz’ and many others, Stefania Attard Vella started acting from a young age. It all began with theatre plays at primary, secondary and post-secondary schools, prize day concerts and other school activities. At the age of fourteen, she started drama courses at the Drama Centre, Blata l-Bajda, with performances for different audiences from time to time.

Throughout the years, Stefania, who will turn 40 this year, also had the opportunity to take part in various theatre plays held at the St. James Cavallier, the Catholic Institute, MITP Valletta, GWU and Juventutis Domus in Zejtun. Her recent stage performance was called ‘Ara ma Tghidx liz-zija’, a comedy written and directed by Renzo Bonello and performed at the Catholic Institute theatre in October 2017. For some time, she also performed the role of a production secretary of various plays.

Apart from acting, she was a hostess of social events around Malta and presented several health spots on television, which were aired weekly. Although acting is a hobby which entails a lot of hard work and time, it has always been a part of her life, something she really loves doing and she always look forward for her next performance.

Eve: Can you recall the first time you performed in front of a camera or audience?

Stefania Attard Vella: The first time I ever performed was when I was 7 years old. I took part in a play that was held as part of the school’s prize day activity.

Eve: Is there any particular theatre or production you’re aiming or hoping to collaborate in?

SAV: At the moment I am interpreting the part of Rebecca in the drama ‘Pupazz’ on ONE TV. In March, I shall be taking part in a very well known Easter pageant. This Easter pageant is held every year at Juventutis Domus, Sacra Familia Theatre, in Zejtun. This is the fourth year I am working with this team amongst other well-known actors.

Eve: Do you consider fashion to be an important part of your life?

SAV: Not really. I usually wear whatever is comfortable and go with what looks best on me. In my opinion there are many more important things in life rather than fashion.

Eve: New technology and gadgets hit the shelves every day. What is currently at the top of your wish list?

SAV: Hmm good one… A FoldiMate – the new machine that automatically irons and folds your clothes.

Eve: Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?

SAV: Having the simple life that I am living right now – with my family and still performing on both stage and television of course.
