Some Of 2015’s Best Music Festivals In Europe

Hurricane (Germany) – 18th Edition – 19, 20, 21 June 2015

This Festival always takes place in Bremen (in the north of Germany) around the month of June and over a period of three days. This year it will take place between 19th and 21st June. Usually, over the same few days, another festival is held, this time in the south of Germany and since they usually have a similar line up, they are often referred to as the sister festivals. This is known as the Southside Festival. Each year and since 2007, the Hurricane Festival has welcomed around 70,000 people over the three days. The kind of music is becoming more and more mainstream and it is renowned for its ability to attract famous artists. This year, Placebo and Florence and The Machine will be heading of the festival.

Exit (Serbia) – 15th Edition – 9, 10, 11, 12 July 2015

This festival is held in Novi Sad and in January 2014, it was declared to be the ‘Best Major European Festival’ at the EU Festival Awards. It always takes place from the second Thursday of July and lasts for four days, this year 9th – 12th July. The style of music is really varied. You can listen to Rock, Electro, Pop, Hip Hop and so on. It generally welcomes more than 150,000 people.

Roskilde (Denmark) – 43th Edition – 27th June – 4th July, 2015

This festival is named after the city where it takes place. Last year, more than 133,000 people attended. The music is mostly commercial rock and some of the famous stars have performed there, such as The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Coldplay, Gorillaz and BJÖRK.

Rock Werchter (Belgium) – 41th Edition – 25, 26, 27, 28 June, 2015

Each year, this festival welcomes the most famous singers in the world, such as Madonna, U2, Metallica, Lady Gaga or Pink. As its name implies, this is mainly a rock festival but more and more pop artists are performing there. Every year, more than 330,000 people attend the Festival. In all the years 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2012, this Festival was recognised as being the best rock festival in the world.

Secret Garden Party (United Kingdom) – 11th Edition – 23, 24, 25, 26 July, 2015

This art and music festival takes place in Abbots Ripton. The festival welcomes 26,000 people and takes place in the grounds of a Georgian farm in an area complete with its own lake, river and landscaped gardens. The festival supports the Campaign Against Living Miserably, which aims to prevent male suicide in the UK.

Sonar (Spain) – 21st Edition – 18, 19, 20 June, 2015

Sonar is one of the largest electro festivals in the world and is located is Barcelona. Several electronic DJs have performed at Sonar, such as Carl Cox and Richie Hawtin. DJ residents at Space Ibiza which is probably the most famous club in the world have also been part of the line-up at this Festival. Each year, 122 000 people attend the Festival.

Tommorrowland (Belgium) – 11th Edition – 24, 25, 26 July, 2015

Tomorrowland is recognised as being the Best Music Event Worldwide by the International Dance Music Award. It takes place in Boom, Belgium. Each year, 185,000 people from 75 countries travel to Belgium to enjoy the music. Over the years, more than 365 DJs have performed at this event and include Avicii, David Guetta, Hardwell, Carl Cox, just to mention a few. In 2013, the organisers of this event exported the concept to the US under the name Tomorrowworld.

Rock en Seine (France) – 12th Edition – 28, 29, 30 August, 2015

This rock festival takes place in a park in Paris. Since 2013, the event has welcomed about 40,000 visitors per day. The late Amy Winehouse was probably the most famous international artist to perform at the festival.

Barrakud (Croatia) – 4th Edition – 8 – 15 August, 2015.

Barrakud takes place in the Pag, a beach in Croatia, but now also in Corfu for the second edition.

The tracks played focuses more on electronic music. This year, the most famous artist is Sven Väth and he will share the stage with some other famous electro DJs, such as Recondite and Papaya.
