JONATHAN TONNA describes himself as a really outgoing person who is fun to be with. He is a bit of an idealist and is always smiling. From his early years, he always tried to involve himself as much as he could in drama and the school theatre. Acting has always been a big part of his life and that’s why he has chosen to take this profession very seriously.

“Acting helps me to both express myself and to live a better life, since it helps me to relax. I also enjoy being in the company of others, especially my close friends. I’m a big fan of football and in particular, the UK football team, Manchester United. My hobby is to read books and football articles,” explained JONATHAN TONNA in his introduction to this interview with RAMONA PORTELLI.

How did you get involved into drama?

When I thought I was old enough to believe that I had a chance to have a role in a television drama. Luckily, I was given a part in a local television tele-series, Prima Facie and I can say that that was the beginning of my wonderful journey. Now, I’m really happy performing as Isaac in the local show, Katrina. I have met some incredible actors, here in Malta.

How do you try to improve your acting skills?

Simple, I really like to watch blockbuster winning movies and take very good notice of the reactions and the expressions that the actors use during their performance.

Can you describe your state of mind while acting?

When acting, I try not to be Jonathan anymore, but instead get myself and my soul into another character! Being Isaac is very close to being Jonathan, but of course I try not to relate too much to that.

Do you like to surf the internet, and why?

I surf the internet many hours of my day. I regularly go on Facebook and chat with my friends, also getting into contact with the hundreds of the fans of Katrina. I like to listen to music on Youtube and most of all to keep up with the latest news from Manchester United!

If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you take with you?

I think I would choose to take a mattress with me so I would be able to sleep well, as well as a lighter to start a fire for warmth. Lastly, I would choose a fishing rod so that I would be able to fish for my food and therefore survive! Fishing will also help to while away the time, as I’m sure there’s not too much to do on a desert island!

On which hobby do you spend the most money?

Reading, for sure. I like to buy the latest bestselling books and my favourite author is Daniele Steele.
