How-to: Eyebrows

When it comes to eyebrows, no two are the same. Not even the ones on the same face. There are thin ones, bushy ones and arched ones, with differences to suit different people.

However, when it comes to choosing the shape of your eyebrows, there are some things you should keep in mind.

Firstly, do not over-pluck! Your eyebrow shape is complimentary to your face shape, so changing it drastically will change the way your whole face looks. Eyebrows are very important when it comes to expressing emotions. They frame your face. If you over pluck your brows to a very high arch, it may give you a permanent look of surprise on your face.

If you feel that your eyebrows are too different from one another or that you have made a mess of their shape, go to a professional. Ask your trusted beautician to shape your brows. Remember more is better than less! It is best if you have slightly thicker brows than you would like, than to have ones which are too thin. The thicker ones can be shaped to look better and even thinned out a bit more. On the other hand, too thin ones take a long time to grow back.

Bushy eyebrows, although sometimes a pain to tame, they are actually very on trend at the moment. Remember you can actually trim your brows using a brow grooming brush and nail scissors. Just brush up the extra hairs upwards and trim down the extra length. To help make them look smoother and silkier, use a clear brow gel. They will stay put, all day.

For those who have sparse brows, it might be a good idea to go to a professional and get advice on how best to help them grow back. There are various products for this, such as hair growth serums, to help get your brows grow back.

In the meantime, eyebrow pencils and brow mascaras are your best friends and you can work on filling any gaps in your brows. Also, defining your arch really defines your whole face, so do not skip them when putting on your make-up.
