Men Who Want Too Much – Expectations And Date Rape Drugs

Have you ever gone out with a guy who thought that buying you a drink meant that he was allowed to grope, paw and fondle you whenever he liked?

How about going on a date with someone who believed he had the right to touch you and more, even though you were unwilling, just because he had bought you a meal at a restaurant?

Some guys just cannot understand that a person cannot be bought with a vodka coke or a plate of pasta, and they actually act as if they’re offended if you reject them. I bet you know what I’m talking about, don’t you?

Most guys with this attitude tend to grumble, swear, or even shout at you when you don’t comply to their wishes, if they don’t feel ashamed that is. Some of them however, do much, much worse.

Date rape drugs are chemical concoctions, often in the form of pills, which are usually used by rapists as a way to incapacitate their victims before assaulting them. The most well-known of these are Rohypnol (also called ruffies) and Zolpidem. They are called date rape drugs because more often than not, and often during the first or second date, guys tend to slip them in women’s drinks or food while they are not looking. The reason for this is to be certain of ‘scoring’ for sure that evening. Honestly, it would be pathetic, if it wasn’t so disgusting.

Recently, the news was splashed all over the internet, that a group of American engineering students had discovered a sure way to detect, and so combat, date drugs. These students claim to have developed a nail polish which is able to detect when a drink has been spiked with certain chemicals, i.e. date rape drugs. All a girl has to do is stir the drink with her finger, and if the nail polish changes colour, it means that her glass contains something which should not have been there. Unfortunately, many sources are stating that this invention is a gimmick and that it does not really work.

The challenge should not be how to detect date rape drugs, but to teach people that forcing someone to do something against their will, or worse, robbing them of their will entirely, is just wrong!! We should be trying to destroy this mentality where people see each other as objects, not merely devising ways to detect the fact when it happens.

It is incredible that in this day and age, in a supposedly civilised society with an evolved mentality, certain individuals have still not understood what the term ‘human rights’ is all about. One should find a solution and eradicate the core problem, that is ignorance, instead of coming up with ideas to detect it.
