Look your best with less, create DIY skincare suitable for you!

Keeping up with all the latest skincare products can take a big toll on your bank account. But did you know that a few key ingredients, very likely already found in your kitchen cabinets, can make all the difference in providing you with good, effective treatments without the extra cost.

Creating your own skincare treatments is an easy task once you know what simple, healthy ingredients can do for your skin. For example, honey is a great all-rounder product that can be utilised for an infinite number of things. You can use it as a cleanser by apply a thin layer on your face and then washing off after a couple minutes. You can add it to your scrub to ensure your face is not stripped of moisture whilst you’re scrubbing away. You can also make the most amazing face or hair masks with it. Honey is not just tasty, it also contains antioxidants, it is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and contains natural enzymes added by bees.

Another couple of holy grail ingredients you should stock up on are; olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil and sugar. With these products  you can create scrubs, masks and treatments!

The following is one of my favourite DIY face mask recipes.

Strawberry and Lemon Brightening Mask

A couple of strawberries

Juice of half a lemon2 tsp honey

Mash up the strawberries until liquid and add all the other ingredients. The strawberries act to remove any redness from the skin, the lemon juice works towards lightening any pigmentation, whilst the honey keeps the skin soft and moisturised. Apply a thin layer over your face and rinse after 15 minutes. This mask will last in the fridge for about two days.

Go for it, just mix up some products together and see how you go! Creating your own skin care allows you to know exactly what you are putting on your skin.
