Sartorial Trend Spotlight: Check Republic

Plaid prints are hot news this season as the nineties look gets a luxe makeover rather than a grunge feel. Checked trousers seem to be a staple in most wardrobes and it is no wonder because they are so easy to pull-off! The blue and grey combination shown above is conservative yet fashion forward at the same time and I personally like the checked flowers on the top as they give the outfit a feminine feel. Team with black pumps and a quilted bag for fashion brownie points and let the prints do the talking! (image1 left) Clashing plaid prints are the order of the day in the second outfit. The monochrome combinations are timeless yet give the outfit an overall mod feel that takes you back to the sixties. (image1 right) You cannot skip Tartan print and Burberry plaid when talking about checked fabrics so I’ve put together two outfit ideas on how you can wear the most popular plaid prints ever. In the first one, Tartan in traditional colours takes centre-stage thanks to the trousers and the panel detail on the satchel. The red coat and black polo-neck top complement the print and bring the outfit together effortlessly. (image2 left) In the last outfit, the signature beige, black, red and white plaid of the house of Burberry London is accentuated with accessories such as the scarf and bag and the classic Burberry trench. The peep-toe boots and leather skirt up your style credentials instantly. (image2 right)
