Taking a different approach to street style, I decided to take advantage of this year’s Fresher’s Week and go around the University of Malta campus for A/W ’13 trend spotting.

Proving to be quite a challenging task, it seems that students leave the trends hanging for a night out. Hopefully. In Malta, there appears to be the idea that school equals only school, putting very little effort in the fashion department. Little do they know that university is one of the main places where you could meet your future employers or colleagues. I’m not saying it should be a fashion show, but making an effort does not hurt either.

Well, I was hoping to spot some peacocking around campus. I was lucky enough to find that the camouflage print made an appearance, having been the trend that I least expected to do so. Monochrome does not seem to prove difficult, black being the majority of the prominent wardrobe colours. Nonetheless, I was pleased to spot some prints, floral and tribal remaining predominant for the colder months.

Now… velvet and tartan, where art thou?
