My favourite things

Knowing the trends is part of my job, liking them is not…

I find that it takes me a while to change my mindset when a new nail trend comes out… like colour polish versus French, stiletto versus squoval. I eventually jump on board but – when I saw that square shapes are out out out and long oval shapes are in in in, I was shocked shocked shocked…. I don’t like long and oval!

However, as an educator and and my role providing a service, it is my duty to tell you EVE readers that the autumn/winter 2013 nail trend is long and oval. I will eventually get on board this train, I promise, but in the meantime I’ll stick to short and square for myself.

So, yep, that’s the long and short of it. Grow your nails, natural or enhanced, round them off and (this is the part I like), use colours – any colours. Metallics are going to feature and also rich, deep, warm colours. Nail art is still big, and I don’t think it’s going anywhere anytime soon, especially the trend of having one feature nail.

There is a new mustard yellow coming out which I don’t particularly like and doubt I would ever wear, but the others are stunning. A creamy wool colour, rust, army green, sapphire blue, burgundy rich red and many more…
