One to Watch: Meet the man behind Jack French London one of the fastest growing accessory brands in the UK. With a celebrity following including Kate Moss, Sadie Frost, Beverley Knight and Lilah Parsons I asked Jack about his past, present and future plans…

When did you establish your label and what prompted you to do so?

I set the brand up in early April 2011. I was really focused on delivering an attainable luxury brand, this is our ethos. Everybody deserves to feel fabulous without the unattainable price tags. Our tagline is ‘for every life you lead’ and that is exactly what our collections illustrate – from daytime work-bags to fabulous evening clutches we cater to any modern lady in the city, their personal style and their lifestyle, whatever it may be. I design bags for high-powered business women to mums picking up their kids from school. Any life you lead, we have the bag to cater to it.

You’ve worked for some high profile brands. How has this inspired your own collection and style? 

I have supported many brands in design, such as Jimmy Choo, Louboutin, Harvey Nichols, Fortnums to name a few. I would work adhoc on projects that were time sensitive and needed my support. Every brand I have worked for has in some way inspired me for when I created my own. (Not allowed to mention specific projects.)

What are your plans going forward?

We have numerous projects coming up. Global expansion seems inevitable considering the rate of growth we are experiencing. In March this year we launched in three Macy’s stores in NY which has been massively successful. Regarding our TV sales we are expanding into Japan, Germany, Canada and Korea this year. Moving forward, the plan will be to progress from handbags to a wider variety of accessories. We are very excited.

You are great at creating a bit of spectacle around your brand – why do you use this as a marketing form?

We create a spectacle because our brand is exciting and innovative so we never want to do the same as others because we are different. We illustrate this through our events and we love to promote London as we are a London-based brand with all of our bags focusing on renowned regions of London. Nobody wants to see the same old thing and at Jack French London we aim to interact with the public in the most creative way possible. We are always thinking of new and original ways of pushing the brand, London and raising money for charity because we are lucky enough to be in a position to be able to do so.

A fantastic team, the support of my family and husband – and a solid determination to make a name for myself.
