Choosing the right hair colour entails more than simply finding a shade you like. When changing your hair colour you must first consider your skin tone. The right hair colour may bring out certain features in your face such as enhance the colour of your eyes and it may also help hide flaws.

Colours for the Spring Type

The summer type has a tender rosy skin with a bluish to violet hue. The eyes are blue, bluish green, grey-blue or green. Some summer types also have brown eyes with glints of blue, grey or green. The natural hair colour of summer type is blonde or brunette. The ashen base colour can sometimes look a little dull.

Summer types should opt for silvery or platinum blonde streaks which help create a livelier picture. In case you decide to colour your hair, ash blonde, ash brown or platinum blonde are your colours.

Colours for the Autumn Type

The skin colour may be quite light even though it appears with a deep bronze tone. The skin has a yellowish golden hue. Autumn skin frequently shows some freckles. The eye colour shines in all shades of green, blue and turquois. On rare occasions you also see light blue eyes. The hair may be dark brown with reddish hues or red in shades from copper to mahogany.

Autumn types may accentuate hair colour with warm red and copper tones. All warm brown tones like golden brown, coppery gold or chestnut are also flattering. If you really want to colour you hair blonde you should reach for golden blonde shades. Ash blonde colours do not suit the autumn-type skin. A clever alternative are golden blonde or coppery red streaks. Blonde streaks however may look artificial.

Colours for The Winter Skin Type

The skin may be very light. Sometimes, you may notice the faint greenish hues of blood vessels. In any case, winter skin shows cool bluish undertones. The dark brown, grey, ice-blue or intensely green eye colour clearly contrasts with the white of the eyes. The natural hair colour is black to bluish black or dark to medium brown.

The rich tones of winter-type hair naturally radiate warmth. Therefore, it rarely needs anything but the occasional conditioning rinse for more lustre. However, if you want to emphasise your natural hair colour you could enhance it by giving it a bluish-black gloss. Aubergine and mahogany hair colour accentuates dark hair. Lightening your hair colour may make you look old. If you do want to change your hair colour opt for ash tones, however avoid yellowish and golden shades for your hair.
